البريمي
(Āl-Buraīmī - Buraymi)

Crossing into Oman from Al-Ain is pretty easy as the Omani border post is 15 kms after the beginning of actual Omani territory. This means you can pop in Buraymi, on the Omani side of the oasis, take in the sights, and come back into the UAE incognito.

Omani fort.

Your typical whitewashed, thin Sunni minaret.

The Gulf is a good place for graphic photography as the harsh light creates stunning contrasts between lit and unlit surfaces.

Al-Khandaq Fort is said to be about 400 years old...

... and has been fully renovated (probably under the mécénat of a rich local Sheikh -- pleonasm).

Strangely enough, the architecture is very reminiscent of Khiva, Uzbekistan.

Last, but not least.
